Location: Los Angeles Sheraton Gateway Hotel
Conference Theme Narrative:
In the context of unprecedented and ongoing legislative budget cuts to higher education, the slow dissolution of the California “Master Plan,” CSU administration threats of faculty “take backs,” larger class sizes, and steadily increased work load issues, the CSU faculty steadfastly continue to provide the type of quality education that the working and middle class families of California have come to expect since the founding of the system in 1960. Despite these many obstacles and increasingly difficult working conditions CSU students continue to graduate, succeed, and contribute to the state in myriad of ways. At the heart of this effort are the faculty of the 23 CSU campuses.
The theme of the 2012 CFA Equity Conference is “Quality Education and Critical Practices: A State and National Perspective.” Critical practice is defined as a type of instruction that teaches students how to become sophisticated and informed observers and knowledgeable critics of their respective and multiple societies/cultures.
